Lee J. Gregory Sr., 89, passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2016.

He graduated from Oceana High School in 1944 and immediately served in the U.S. Army. He was a veteran of World War II. After the war, he attended school in Louisville, Ky., where he met his wife, Cathryn.

Lee was employed at Prices Inc. for 39 years. As a young man, he was a lifeguard at the Cavalier on the Hill, a jockey, an avid golfer and even played with a minor league baseball team. His lifetime passion was being on the water, crabbing, fishing and oystering with his favorite buddies. Lee was a charter member of Bayside Baptist Church and member of Bayside Masonic Lodge 218. He never gave up on his beloved Redskins!

He was preceded in death by his son, David.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 66 years, Cathryn; four children, Lee J. Gregory Jr., and his wife, Terry, Patricia Creech, and her husband, Scot, Linda Gay, and her husband, Clyde, and Nancy Boxley, and her husband, John; and 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Special thanks to his caregivers, Wilma, Lorrie, Jessica and Terry, at The Hoy Center for the loving care they provided.

He had a very generous heart, loved helping others and adored his family. We will so miss his practical jokes!

A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 25, at Bayside Baptist Church, 1920 Pleasure House Road.

Memorial donations may be made to the church building fund.
