John William ‘Buddy’ Vakos Jr., 56, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 13, 2016. He was born in Norfolk and lived in the Tidewater area for most of his life.
Buddy worked in various fields within construction as a skilled tradesman and journeyman plumber. He had previously lived in Salt Lake City, where he worked in the furniture business with the Mormons.
Buddy was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Cowan.
He is survived by his father, John William Vakos Sr.; stepmother, Linda Vakos, four brothers and sisters, Sandy Vakos, Jan Vakos Williamson, and her husband, John, Mark Vakos, and his wife, Betsy, and Matthew Vakos; and several nieces, nephews and good friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 16, at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel. Interment will follow in Eastern Shore Chapel Cemetery.
